Four-step workflow · Updated July 12, 2026

Resize Etsy photos without making a good image look cheap.

Reduce dimensions and file weight without stretching the product, softening details, or damaging composition.

1. Start from the original

Use the highest-resolution source. Re-editing a compressed JPEG compounds quality loss.

2. Resize proportionally

Set a longest-edge target and let the other dimension scale proportionally. Do not enter unrelated width and height values.

3. Inspect thumbnail composition

Preview square, landscape, and near-square frames. The product, label, and essential text should remain understandable.

4. Export for the subject

JPEG is predictable for photographs. PNG is useful for sharp graphics or transparency, with marketplace-specific limitations. Verify accepted formats before using WebP for listings.

Upscaling adds pixels, not product detail.
